The Chicana and Chicano Studies Department congratulates Alejandro Prado for receiving the 2021 NACCS Frederick A. Cervantes Student Premio.

His award-winning research paper, "Tracking China-Chicanx Studies: A Historical and Contemporary Analysis of China and Chicanx/Latinx Populations” looks at the interplay between transnational capital and immigrant labor in the contemporary San Gabriel Valley. Alejandro's larger dissertation project, chaired by Professor Armbruster-Sandoval, investigates how these transnational exchanges impact restaurant labor industries and moments of immigrant, inter-ethnic solidarity.\
